Position: Senior Lead Electrical Engineer

 

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is required.

 

Experience: This position requires 10 or more years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.

 

Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over the delivery of projects individually as well as a lead engineer managing a team of engineers and designers. As a Senior Lead Electrical Engineer, responsibilities include total delivery of the electrical deliverables and services on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations. Duties may include performing advanced engineering work serving as a technical specialist for complex engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive experience in electrical engineering and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

 

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Validating scope of work for electrical engineering services at the beginning of a project, and then tracking changes as the project progresses.
  • Establishing the design criteria, incorporating client requirements, scope basis and design basis meeting applicable state, local and federal standards and codes. Ensuring that any requirements for permitting have been established and communicated to the project team.
  • Knowing your scope and deliverables. Initiating timely notices to upper management and/or clients when deviation is made from your scope, affecting schedule, deliverables or cost of the work.
  • Planning and organizing the work of you and your team. Communicating the plan to your team, the project leadership team and the client.
  • Maintaining control of the project by tracking and maintaining discipline performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards. Understanding and utilizing the project tools that are in place for project control.
  • Delegating work to engineers and designers in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality.
  • Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality.
  • Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.
  • Reviewing and approving electrical deliverables.
  • Checking calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
  • Producing construction specifications.
  • Monitoring drawings in progress to ensure conformance to design calculations and specifications.
  • Participating in the training programs, continuous education opportunities and professional development of staff.
  • Provide leadership to ensure communication and execution of work within scope, schedule and budget.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge and application of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations.
  • Ability to circuit lights and power.
  • Ability to show lighting controls and lighting sequence of operations.
  • Ability to indicate fire alarm requirements.
  • Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.
  • Ability to coordinate with utility power companies.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.
  • Ability to route conduit and cable tray layouts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for production of all electrical deliverables.
  • Ability to produce a power system single line diagram.
  • Ability to develop electrical specifications.
  • Develop design criteria and scope of work.
  • Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD/REVIT drafting standards.
  • Proficient in CAD and REVIT.
  • Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments by providing leadership to ensure communication and execution of work within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Ability to communicate and represent B&H Engineers to clients about it’s services.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong team skills and ensure relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support.
  • Licensed professional engineer in the State of Texas.

Position: Electrical Engineer

 

Registration: Electrical Engineering in Training (EIT) registration is required.

 

Experience: This position requires 2 or more years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.

 

Generally responsible for production and delivery of projects individually as well as coordinating with other engineers and designers. As an Electrical Engineer, responsibilities include total delivery of the electrical deliverables and services on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations. Duties may include performing engineering work serving as a technical specialist for complex engineering assignments under super vision from a senior electrical engineer.

 

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Establishing the design criteria, incorporating client requirements, scope basis and design basis meeting applicable state, local and federal standards and codes. Ensuring that any requirements for permitting have been established and communicated to the project team.
  • Knowing your scope and deliverables. Initiating timely notices to upper management and/or clients when deviation is made from your scope, affecting schedule, deliverables or cost of the work.
  • Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines.
  • Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.
  • Reviewing and approving electrical deliverables.

  • Conformance to codes and design criteria.
